Stuart White
Stuart Prendergast White is a full time professional Artist. She began
her art career with private lessons at the age of nine and continued her
formal education a the University of North Carolina Womans College,
the University of North Carolina and the Richmond Professional
Institute of the College of William and Mary where she graduated with
a BFA in Fashion Design. After graduation she was Fashion
Cooridnator for Display at Miller & Rhoads and taught in the Fashion
Department at Richmond Professional Institute, now VCU.
She has a pervasive sense of humor in her work and although often
treating serious environmental or societal themes, her light touch
helps leaven the message. Her collages are complex combinations
of paint and paper on canvas.
Stuart’s award winning work is included in private and corporate
collections, nationally and worldwide such as Switzerland, Italy,
Holland, Australia, Turkey, England and St. Croix, USVI.
She currently exhibits in selected area shows and galleries, among
them St. Croix, USVI, Arts Around the Lake at the University of
Richmond, The Prizery in South Boston, Virginia and the Uptown
Gallery in Richmond, where she was Co-founder and Co-director from
1992-1995.
Stuart’s studio/gallery is located in Manakin-Sabot, Virginia.
