Janet Banister
As an artist and educator who believes that art should speak for itself,
Janet has been drawing since the age of 10. She has the rare ability to
'create life on the page', showing the spirit of her subjects by placing
them in their natural setting surrounded by things they use everyday.
Janet's work has been exhibited in the United States and Spain, and
she has been commissioned to create more than 100 pieces. Her
most predominant subjects are humans, animals, and landscapes.
Although she usually works in graphite, she also uses colored pencil
and watercolor.
As a teacher, her courses include Composition, Beginning Drawing
and Intermediate Drawing to students of all ages. Most recently, she
worked for Lewis & Clark Community College, The City of Edwardsville
and Collinsville Continuing Education Program.
"Janet has the rare
