Brenda Stankus
With both sides of her family from the Tuscan hill-towns of Lucca and
Barga of Northern Italy, is it any wonder that Brenda’s passion is Art?
Since receiving her B.A. from The University of Richmond in 1972,
Brenda has been a teacher, art teacher and professional artist.
Self-taught, her mediums of choice are watercolor, oil, and sculpture.
The human face, form, and soul fascinate her and, in some way,
influence her in all that she creates. Even her landscapes are meant
as escapes for the resident viewer.
Many believe Brenda’s special talent is in watercolor children’s
portraiture, unifying clear tones and gentle features to portray the spirit
of the child, the beauty of youth, and always a remarkable likeness.
Others enjoy her landscapes in oil for their freshness and color-play.
When sculpting, her subject is primarily the adult female, preferring
age before beauty.

"If art is beauty then
beauty is balance and
balance is peace. Art is
not a luxury, but a
source of joy and a
medium for thought."
